Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Bands and musicians|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

Delete - This happens quite often with murdered musicians, especially rappers. The fact that his murder was covered in media does not make him notable, unless there is additional analysis per the requirements of WP:VICTIM. His music gained no notice during his lifetime, and the only reason we even know he was a rapper is because his obituaries said it, so there is not enough per WP:NMUSICIAN either. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 00:46, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rave the Reqviem[edit]

Nothing of notability in the bands history, additionally many of the references are primary Facebook posts about their band members history etc and I'm unable to find any significant coverage of the band online, outside of some album reviews from smaller blogs. Keep as it meets WP:GNG, WP:CREATIVE and WP:HEY. Article when it was nominated was an unreferenced BLP, but we have now added several articles that focus on award-winning Nashville-based Canadian country music singer-songwriter Steve Fox, who has been the focus of local Canadian newspaper articles such as "Coquitlam's Steve Fox making a name in Nashville" and "Writing his ticket; Steve Fox's songs have made it big, now it's his turn", and was often mentioned in Billboard magazine and other industry magazines about Canadian expats in Nashville. There are 200+ hits on ProQuest when you search for "Steve Fox" "songwriter", and not all of them are worth adding to his article, but it strongly suggests the article can be easily expanded and improved further where we have "citation needed" tags, which is important per WP:BLP. @Oaktree b: Pinging for reconsideration. Tim Metcalfe (musician)[edit]

Self-authored Wikipedia about a non-notable musician. Half of the references on the page don't even mention him, and the ones that do only make a single passing mention of his involvement in some non-notable experimental indie band. Koopsta Knicca[edit]

The sourcing and coverage surrounding this deceased rapper seems to be very borderline by WP:GNG and WP:NMUSIC standards. This is more of a request to see if any better sourcing can be found, though I am bringing this here because it's very possible that this could just end up being tossed out. The only three independent sources on this page are announcements about his death in 2015, he does not appear to have received significant coverage for anything else he did, and the rest are just links to buy his albums on Amazon, which are in no way acceptable as sources. He does not appear to have had a solo album that ever charted or got certified. I'm unsure if what's here is enough to establish notability, so I will refrain from voting (though, if consensus comes to deleting it, I would support a redirect to Three 6 Mafia, the unmistakably notable group that he was once a member of) and so I will leave the decision to everyone else. Jerry Newton[edit]

The article seems to attempt to inherit notability from Wayne Newton, Jerry's younger brother. WP:NOTINHERITED applies. Checking the references is challenging. Jerry does appear, generally with reference to the sibling, and as a passing reference to Jerry. The article seems to be more a tribute (WP:NOTMEMORIAL applies) than anything else. Jerry was obviously notable to those who loved and respected him, but the references do not show a pass of any of WP:BIO, WP:NMUSICIAN, nor WP:NACTOR. Keep as "Louisa Solomon" (as this article should be called) easily meets WP:BASIC. Agree that not every band member should have their own Wikipedia article, but in her case, it is justified because of the focused coverage she has received about her anti-Zionist views while identifying as Jewish and queer. This was discussed in The Washington Post (Online) in 2014 when the band's scheduled performance at a festival run by the DC Jewish Community Center was canceled due to her stated political views. There is also a 2014 Wall Street Journal Online article about her as well as the band. If you compare the band's article (The Shondes) with her biography, the two are distinct – and it's important to note that many reviews about The Shondes (e.g. in Rolling Stone) don't even discuss their religion and politics and the band also includes at least one non-Jewish member. Comment. There is additional coverage about Louisa Solomon becoming the on-campus rabbi at The New School in 2023 in this article in NY Jewish Week and about her involvement in an October 2023 rally organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, where she brought her two children in this 2023 The New York Times article. Both have now been added to the article. Taken cumulatively with the coverage already mentioned in my keep !vote above, it demonstrates WP:SUSTAINED coverage over time for a Jewish punk musician who is also a rabbi-in-training and a political activist. Note to the closing admin. I would like ask please that if by chance the consensus leans towards deletion, we look at redirecting the page to Ivor Kirchin, Basil Kirchin as he was a member of The Kirchin Band for a year, having replaced the featured singer Rory Blackwell in 1957. Webb stayed with the band for a year and I believe sang on at least two recordings. He was involved with both Ivor and Basil. This would also preserve the history. I haven't got time to comb through the other UK music trade magazines and a lot of the earlier ones can't be word searched. So it's a case of having to go through all the content of this often faded but thankfully preserved historical music info.

WP:BLP of a voice actor and singer, not properly sourced as passing inclusion criteria for actors or singers. As always, neither actors nor singers are automatically entitled to have Wikipedia articles just because they exist, and have to be shown to pass WP:GNG on third-party reliable source coverage about them and their work -- but this is very heavily reference bombed to primary sources that are not support for notability (songs sourced to Spotify or YouTube or their own lyrics on Genius, acting credits sourced to IMDb, YouTube "interviews" where he's talking about himself, Facebook posts, etc.), with virtually no evidence of GNG-worthy reliable source coverage about him shown at all.
This is different enough in form from the prior versions that I wouldn't feel comfortable speedying it as a recreation of deleted content without a new discussion, but it hasn't built any stronger case for the subject passing any notability criteria than the prior versions did. The notability test for an actor is not "has been in stuff"; having acting roles is literally an actor's job description, meaning that by definition every actor who exists at all has had acting roles and wouldn't be an actor at all if they hadn't, so quite literally every actor who exists at all would be "inherently" notable if simply listing acting roles were all it took.
The notability test for an actor requires reliable source coverage about him and his performances in real media, demonstrating that his performances have been independently verified as significant ones by somebody other than his own public relations agent. Keep WP:NOTABILITY is quite clear, an article must pass either the general notability guidelines, or a subject specific guideline. WP:ENTERTAINER states "The person has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions". Voice actors, and others on the list there as entertainers, are notable for their work, not what others say about it. That's not how notability per NACTOR works. Like I said above, every actor can list roles, so every actor would automatically be "inherently" notable if simply listing roles were all it took — so notability as an actor doesn't vest in simply listing roles, and does require evidence of reliable source about him and his performances. Reliable sources have to tell us whether any given role is "significant" enough to count toward NACTOR #1 in the first place, which they do by writing third-party coverage about it. Not all actors have notable roles. If you had reliable sources, it'd pass the general notability guidelines, and so the subject specific guidelines would have no reason to exist. Delete and WP:SALT for a least a year due to almost no sources that can establish notability. Biography section could be made one sentence due to the weakness of the sources. Most of the article is sources that would not pass a reliability test. I've tried to look at this from other angles, but there's nothing here to get this article to the next level or be kept. Delete: An article that doesn't meet WP:ENT for inclusion on Wikipedia. While I couldn't find any clue in the former AFDs that I still hold deep breath of how it had survived two–three discussions. I am not going to base in any past whatsoever but here is the source analysis and final conclusion. source 1 is a primary source but it verifies the content as used in most of the articles like that per WP:PRIMARYSOURCE. Source 2 is good for sourcing but doesn't support the 'wife marriage'. source 3 is an obvious advert and interview making me suspect the credibility/reliability of source 2. Source 4 is unreliable, and source 5 looks like an advertorial unverifiable publication. Source 6, source 7, and source 8 contributes to a non notable controversy and I call it WP:BLP1E because the said event is not notable for a standalone article. Keep Article has been improved and more reliable sources are added, such as The Daily Star or Prothom Alo. Popular national reliable newspapers claim that Salman Muqtadir is a popular YouTuber and actor and there are a bunch of sources about him from reliable sites. Although some news are about his marriage or other things but they are published independently about him and declared him as YouTuber, influencer or actor. Therefore GNG has been able to establish.
