Myron B. Dossett (born January 9, 1961) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing District 9[1] since January 2007. Dossett was first elected in 2006 following the retirement of longtime representative James E. Bruce.

Biography[edit]

Dossett graduated from Murray State University before being elected as a magistrate to the Christian County Fiscal Court. He is also a member of the local Ruritan Club.[2]

Political Career[edit]

Elections[edit]

  • 2006 When Democratic Representative James E. Bruce retired and left the 9th House District seat open, Dossett was unopposed for the 2006 Republican Primary[3] and won the November 7, 2006 General election with 2,759 votes (53.5%) against Democratic nominee Peter MacDonald.[4]
  • 2008 Dossett was unopposed for the 2008 Republican Primary,[5] and won the November 4, 2008 Kentucky House of Representatives election with 5,050 votes (58.3%) against Democratic nominee Travis Calhoun,[6] who had run in the 2006 Democratic Primary.
  • 2010 Dossett was unopposed for both the May 18, 2010 Republican Primary[7] and the November 2, 2010 Kentucky House of Representatives election, winning with 4,333 votes.[8]
  • 2012 Dossett was unopposed for both the May 22, 2012 Republican Primary,[9] and the November 6, 2012 Kentucky House of Representatives election, winning with 6,670 votes.[10]
  • 2014 Dossett was unopposed for both the May 20, 2014, Republican Primary, and the 2014 Kentucky House of Representatives election.[11]
  • 2016 Dossett was unopposed for both the May 16, 2016, Republican Primary, and the 2016 Kentucky House of Representatives election, winning with 11,425 votes.[11]
  • 2018 Dossett was unopposed for the May 22, 2018, Republican Primary, and won the November 6, 2018 Kentucky House of Representatives election against Democratic nominee William Coleman, winning with 7,795 votes.[11]
  • 2020 Dossett was unopposed for both the 2020 Republican Primary, and the November 3, 2020 Kentucky House of Representatives election, winning with 13,244.[11]
  • 2022 Dossett was unopposed for the 2022 Republican Primary, and won the November 8, 2022 Kentucky House of Representatives election against Democratic nominee Bianca Crockam, winning with 5,123 votes.[11]
  • 2024 Dossett was unopposed for the 2024 Republican Primary, and will face Democratic nominee Twyla Dillard during the November 5, 2024 Kentucky House of Representatives election.[11]
