Regarding honours and trophies
Hi I saw you are quite senior in this field of WP editing, I just want to ask you something regarding the rules. What is the consensus of adding honour list of a footballer? According to sources Messi has 43 trophies but some trophies are not there in the honour list of Messi because he was not in the match day squad. Same applies for Ronaldo also, according to sources he has 34(Maybe now 35 after winning the Arab cup) but couple of trophies are also taken away from him because of the same match day squad reason. Currently some disputes happened in Dany Alves WP page, please check the talk page also. Your comments would put some light on it, Thanks. Eduardo2024 (talk) 18:01, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Eduardo2024 I don't think there's ever been a consensus at WT:FOOTY about this. Every time people mention "did player X win a trophy because they didn't play", it gets into a long argument and nobody seems to agree. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:05, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Content translation system is no longer using Youdao's machine translation service. The service was in place for several years, but due to no usage, and availability of alternatives, it was deprecated to reduce maintenance overheads. Other services which cover the same languages are still available. [7]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 15 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 16 August. It will be on all wikis from 17 August (calendar).
- Starting on Wednesday, a new set of Wikipedias will get "Add a link" (Latin Wikipedia, Ladino Wikipedia, Luxembourgish Wikipedia, Lak Wikipedia, Lezghian Wikipedia, Lingua Franca Nova Wikipedia, Ganda Wikipedia, Limburgish Wikipedia, Ligurian Wikipedia, Lombard Wikipedia, Lingala Wikipedia, Latgalian Wikipedia, Latvian Wikipedia, Maithili Wikipedia, Basa Banyumasan Wikipedia, Moksha Wikipedia, Malagasy Wikipedia, Armenian Wikipedia, Kyrgyz Wikipedia). This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure how this feature works locally. [8]
Future changes
- A few gadgets/user scripts which add icons to the Minerva skin need to have their CSS updated. There are more details available including a search for all existing instances and how to update them.

Splitting East Bengal Club
Hey, I'd like to initiate the split of the article but I have a few questions regarding how to do it as I've never done something similar before. Do we split the article and create a new article for the football club or do we create a new article for the sports club as the article is primarily concerned with the football club? - I'm not 100% sure, and I'm also not 100% sure of what content should be kept/removed, which is why I haven't done it myself. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:55, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Former or old logos
Hello. I've seen you've nominated a few former or old logos to FFD. If you'd care to, you can go through Category:Non-free former or old logos where probably most logos should be deleted. I made a mass nom of most of these logos a few years ago but it was denied since I didn't really review all the files. If I saw that it was a former or old logo, I nominated it, but I never really valuated if it violated NFCP or not. Jonteemil (talk) 00:30, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- Jonteemil Thanks, will take a look at that when I get time. At the moment, I've just been nominating them as and when I find them, and looking for similar violations in related articles (e.g. there were a bunch of Qatari football teams that had loads of former logos). If there's some text about the logo history then it might meet WP:NFCC#8, but if there isn't any text about it, then it doesn't meet that criterion. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:32, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

DYK for 2023 British Athletics Championships
On 23 August 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2023 British Athletics Championships, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the men's 100 metres event at the 2023 British Athletics Championships was run in heavy rain? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2023 British Athletics Championships. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 2023 British Athletics Championships), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Recent changes
- As part of the changes for the better diff handling of paragraph splits, improved detection of splits is being rolled out. Over the last two weeks, we deployed this support to group0 and group1 wikis. This week it will be deployed to group2 wikis. [19]
- All Special:Contributions pages now show the user's local edit count and the account's creation date. [20]
- Wikisource users can now use the
prpbengalicurrency
label to denote Bengali currency characters as page numbers inside the<pagelist>
tag. [21] - Two preferences have been relocated. The preference "Enable the visual editor" is now shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis. Previously it was shown on the "Beta features" tab at some wikis. The preference "Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor" is now also shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis, instead of the "Beta features" tab. [22][23]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 August. It will be on all wikis from 31 August (calendar).
- New signups for a Wikimedia developer account will start being pushed towards idm.wikimedia.org, rather than going via Wikitech. Further information about the new system is available.
- All right-to-left language wikis, plus Korean, Armenian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Bulgarian Wikipedias, will have a link in the sidebar that provides a short URL of that page, using the Wikimedia URL Shortener. This feature will come to more wikis in future weeks. [24]
Future changes
- The removal of the DoubleWiki extension is being discussed. This extension currently allows Wikisource users to view articles from multiple language versions side by side when the
<=>
symbol next to a specific language edition is selected. Comments on this are welcomed at the phabricator task. - A proposal has been made to merge the second hidden-categories list (which appears below the wikitext editing form) with the main list of categories (which is further down the page). More information is available on Phabricator; feedback is welcome!

The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it. |
For kind information, the attack on Sri Lankan team was not just anathor terrorist attack. It was 1st time that any cricket team was attacked by terrorist and fortunately its not happened again. I am writing this ans to you here because I know many are or will try to hide this dark histroy. We know terrorist attacks are a normal thing there but not for us. Whatever I wrote is in public domain, punished by English and Aus media. I wrot it, why it was not present before in that article?. I didn't wrote excessively, I just added highlights.
