Karrakatta walk trails[edit]
I am going through the two Karrakatta cemetery wak trails and the people they highlight as points of interest. I created a stub on Richard Greaves (prospector) he found gold in Southern Cross that started WA's first gold rush. The Karrakatta list has Grace Vernon Drake-Brockman we have her as Grace Bussell, theres a John Hogan inspecter of police not sure he has enough to be notable though 25 years of court records and reporting does make a lot to sift through. Other people Benjamin Edward Strange a cartoonist has potential, Robert Creighton a wheelwright was the first person buried at Karrakatta is probably only worth mention in that article.
Perhaps we can meet at the cafe one day for a walk.Gnangarra 09:06, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

CfD: Newspapers published in Western Australia by region[edit]
I'm posting this here because it may be of interest to members of this WikiProject.
I've suggested the renaming of some Western Australia newspaper categories, specifically:
- Propose renaming Category:Newspapers published in Goldfields-Esperance (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Newspapers of the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia
- Propose renaming Category:Pilbara newspapers (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Newspapers of the Pilbara region of Western Australia
- Propose renaming Category:South West Newspapers (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Newspapers of the South West region of Western Australia

Newspapers of Western Australia[edit]
I am working on improving Wikipedia's coverage of the newspapers of Western Australia. I know this is something that's been attempted in the past and I'm sure I will never be able to complete this project as there's a vast amount of publications to consider, but I'm going to do what I can.
I'd appreciate the community's feedback on some of what I've done so far.
- I've restructured the categories around West Australian newspapers, including ensuring every newspaper is in a regional category rather than in the top-level Category:Newspapers published in Western Australia (for which purposes I've included the Perth metropolitan region as a region of Western Australia). I've also created additional sub-categories for the defunct newspapers of each region and, as can be seen from the post above, proposed several categories be renamed for consistency.
- I've created a draft navbox template in my user space, as an example of the kind of navbox I'd like to include at the bottom of every newspaper article. It can be found here: User:Adam Black GB/Template:Newspapers of the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia
- I've created articles for three newspapers so far, namely The Mount Magnet Leader and Youanmi Miner, South Western Advertiser and The Pingelly Leader.
This will be a long-term project of mine, and I'd welcome the help of any other interested editors. If you have any feedback on what I've done so far, or any help or tips that would be useful going forward, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!
Note: I am from Scotland, but have had a lifelong interest in Australia and its history. Because of my location I may not be able to access some Australian resources, and it might take me a while to reply due to the difference in time zones. Adam Black talk • contributions 17:00, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
